"O yes redundant, digital
transmission is full of back up systems, if I had an analog television transmitter problem
it would go off the air, that is why hot standby systems were developed some years
back." "This new digital technology is full of redundancy, if any section fails
I would just lose some output power but would stay on the air." So WBZ operations and
engineering manager Bob Hess was quoted in explaining various aspects of television
transmission, on our successful field trip to the transmitter site, in early
November..Thanks for a great turnout. This was followed by many members for a nice
luncheon at a nearby restaurant to the WBZ facility.
