"O yes redundant, digital transmission is full of back up systems, if I had an analog television transmitter problem it would go off the air, that is why hot standby systems were developed some years back." "This new digital technology is full of redundancy, if any section fails I would just lose some output power but would stay on the air." So WBZ operations and engineering manager Bob Hess was quoted in explaining various aspects of television transmission, on our successful field trip to the transmitter site, in early November..Thanks for a great turnout. This was followed by many members for a nice luncheon at a nearby restaurant to the WBZ facility.
Looking ahead to December remember our Board of Directors meeting the first Monday and anyone is welcome to attend. As always talk in by145.47 MHz will get you all the info. for the 7 p.m. meeting. On Dec 9th, our monthly meeting date will feature the popular Holiday Dinner, a few bucks will get you a spaghetti, dinner ,salad with all the fixins including meat balls and plenty of coffee, and any other drinks you would like are available at the bar.
After this dinner we will have Herb W1KVQ lead us in the fun filled Yankee Swap, where the gift you get may be the one you keep, but then again it may not be. Remember to bring a gift and put it under the tree, if you want to play Yankee Swap
I will be getting info soon on a additional field trip to WBZ's works on the other side of route 128 in the big antenna farm area, including FM station WODS 103.3 and Ch. 38. Bob Hess will meet us in early December,at his first opportunity, and will let me know.
In this Holiday Season Best wishes and Seasons Greetings .

73's to all

Request for HF Help
One of our club members has a friend that has asked for some help...
I have a close friend who is going to sail his family to Bermuda next spring and wants to setup a radio check schedule with a ham operator for safety. Do you have HF capability and would be willing to establish a radio transmission schedule for a few days? Let me know and I can make arrangements to have them get together.
Please let me know at
